WHO Digestive 6th ed (2026) · what you will practise
What this GI pathology quiz covers
The questions follow the 6th edition WHO Classification of Digestive System Tumours (2026), which reorganises epithelial tumours by site, gives neuroendocrine, mesenchymal and haematolymphoid tumours their own chapters, simplifies precursor grading to two tiers and adds new entities, plus current biomarker practice.
What is new in the 6th edition
Colorectal intramucosal adenocarcinoma, oesophageal epidermoid metaplasia, sonic hedgehog hepatocellular adenoma, new bile duct intraductal neoplasms, and two-tier grading of precursor lesions.
Neuroendocrine neoplasms
Amphicrine-like carcinoma versus MiNEN, NET G3 versus NEC with p53, Rb, DAXX/ATRX and MEN1, and the enhanced 6th edition grading criteria.
Liver and biliary tract
Small-duct versus large-duct intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma, FGFR2 fusions and IDH mutations, and the hepatocellular adenoma subtypes.
Colorectum and appendix
Serrated lesion criteria, TSA with conventional dysplasia, MMR testing and Lynch triage, LAMN versus mucinous adenocarcinoma.
Stomach and oesophagus
Claudin 18.2, HER2, PD-L1 and MMR biomarkers in gastric cancer, and anal and oesophageal squamous precursors.
Mesenchymal and treatment-related
SDH-deficient GIST, immune checkpoint inhibitor colitis and the new treatment-associated pathology section.
