Some recent updates in sinonasal tumors- Based on WHO 2022

  1. DEK::AFF2 is a new subtype added as provisional entity under non-keratinising SCC, shows complex exophytic and endophytic growth
    • Broad papillary fronds, anastomosing lobules, ribbons and nests
    • Nuclear monotony and inflammatory infiltrate, especially neutrophils, typically present
    • Requires confirmation with DEK::AFF2 FISH break apart probe.
  2. Teratocarcinosarcoma has recently been shown to have recurrent molecular alterations, specifically as biallelic inactivation of SMARCA4 and activating CTNNB1 mutations
  3. Renal cell carcinoma-like adenocarcinoma is a low-grade subtype with optically clear cytoplasm resembling renal cell carcinoma
